Sadly, I helped my parents pack up the Colorado house for good last month. After 30+ years, the Weber clan is leaving the Rockies. To alleviate the pain, I decided to drive one of the cars back to San Francisco -- and in true form I chose the Loneliest Road in America for the road trip back home.
I have driven this road several times and can't say enough -- it is damn beautiful [more photos]. Everyone needs to make this trip. I was scouting some backcountry ski lines off the highway hoping to link some quick turns. No luck -- too much snow on the dirt access roads.
But, I did find a random hot spring in the middle of nowhere and treated myself to a HOT soak with an incredible view.
I didn't get the ski I was looking for, but I did find a truly unique spot on this earth to reflect on the wonderful times I experienced in Colorado. It all came together.
And then... it was back on the road.
